Just a few cool pics

I know I’ve been a blog slacker lately, but I’ve been super busy trying to get print orders together for clients. I just wanted to share a few images that Warren and I shot over the last few weeks.

I took this one early in the morning around 6:45am on my way to go walking. The sky was so beautiful I pulled my car over, grabbed my point and shoot and started firing away. All without even one sip of coffee.

Warren wanted to get a shot of the lake we cross over every day with the pretty fall trees in the background. But he wanted the water to be still and glass-like. One morning on our way to church, we just happened to have one of the 5D’s and the water was pretty still, so we pulled over and Warren jumped out and ran to grab a few shots. Beautiful huh?

Warren’s been wanting to get a shot of the moon with our 70-200 f/2.8L lens. He’s been waiting for a clear night and we finally had one at midnight a few nights ago. Despite the freezing temps, he bundled up and went outside to capture a few as up close as he could get. I think he did a great job!

Have a wonderful rest of the week and weekend. We’re having Olivia’s cousins over for a sleepover Friday night and our Thanksgiving dinner with my mom’s family is Sunday. So our weekend will be pretty busy. But I’ll be posting some recent shoots early next week so stay tuned!

Last Chance for Fall Pictures!

Just wanted to remind everyone out there that the cutoff date to order prints and cards for Christmas is December 1st, which means you would need to schedule your shoot for this week or early next week. I have a few slots available so call or email me asap!

My fall family portrait season is almost over and I’ve had a blast! Thanks to all my clients for allowing me get to know you and photograph your family! There have been so many kind words and uplifting comments and I appreciate and cherish them all!

Tyler & Taylor

I thought our shoot was going to get rained out, but It stopped just long enough for us to photograph the adorable Tyler & Taylor. They are so sweet, I just want to eat them up! They had no problem getting used to my camera and got pretty comfortable. I loved it! They had a great time running around the beautiful West Point on the Eno.

Here are some of my favorites from the shoot.

After the Shoot Fun Stuff

Well it’s been a busy afternoon. I just got back from getting my hair cut at my sister’s house. She is a fabulous hair stylist! Olivia is watching Backyardigans and I am getting ready to go to church to hear her sing in the choir=) I had a little time to kill, so I thought I would show everyone what I’ve been working on today.

People are always asking me what distinguishes EMP from Sears or Target, etc. It’s those little personal touches that count. Here is an example of one of the many things that makes custom lifestyle photography so special. This is what I give my client once the shoot is over. The cd is protected by a beautiful leather cover all wrapped in tissue and placed in a custom gift bag with a few treats inside.

Sorry it’s a bad picture. Like I’ve said before, I am not a product photographer and I used my point and shoot. I just wanted you to see what to expect after a custom session with EMP! Yes, that is a fan in the background. It’s old and pretty.

Fall.

Fall is my favorite time of year. And unfortunately the leaves are falling pretty hard now and some of the trees around our house are already bare. So I wanted to capture a few images to remember this beautiful time of the year.

Here are a couple of Olivia in our front yard from last week when the leaves were at their peak.

Here is our neighbor’s yard. The horses looked so pretty with the beautiful fall backdrop.

It’s pictures like this that make me want to take our For Sale sign down.

The Palmer Family

When the Palmers asked me to shoot their family, I was so excited! They are so much fun and I knew we would have a great time together!

We decided to go out to their house and get some shots in their beautiful front yard. Then we headed out towards downtown Hillsborough. They had some great ideas about a few other locations in the downtown area they wanted to try out and I’m so glad we did. Now I have some new locations for future shoots! After the shoot we ate dinner at a very nice restaurant, my new favorite. But it’s a secret. I don’t think a whole lot of people know about it and you have to have reservations to eat there, so I won’t tell. But if you look really closely at the last picture, you might figure it out.

We usually laugh and have fun at shoots, but we found ourselves laughing constantly at this one. The Palmers are so sweet and so full of energy, how could we not have had a blast?!

Thanks Palmer family for allowing us to shoot your family and to get to know you a little better!

Palmer Family Sneak Peak

The Palmer family were a joy to shoot! They were so full of energy and are one of the kindest families I know. I’m sure they are anxious to see their pictures, so I wanted to give them a little sneak peak. More to come soon=)

Joni {Senior}

Joni(actually pronounced Johnny) which I think is so cool, is so beautiful! I just can’t get over how gorgeous & fashionable she is! She was so excited about the shoot and was a total natural! We had a blast photographing her!

We headed out to West Point on the Eno for some beautiful scenery. This seems to be the hot spot this year for shoots. And it turned out to be a beautiful day! Of course I ended up falling, AGAIN! I fall at almost every shoot. I have always had weak ankles, plus I’m clumsy. Not a good combination! So to all of my future clients out there, yes, I will probably fall at your shoot, but don’t worry. I usually don’t get hurt.

Here a a few of my favorites. I’ve been playing around with some textures and overlays lately. I found some great ones here. They were actually free! Much better than paying around $250 for them, which unfortunately is the going rate these days! If you’re a photographer and you have been looking for some awesome textures, download these instead of paying an arm and a leg for them.

Mini Sessions this Saturday

I still have one spot open for a mini session this Saturday at West Point on the Eno. Call or email asap to reserve your spot! Click here for more info & pricing on mini sessions. This isn’t just for families and children. Brides and couples are welcome too=)

The Thornton Family

I was so excited to get the opportunity to shoot my cousin, her husband, and their three beautiful daughters again this year. When I was first starting out, they let me use them as my guinea pigs many times and still do! We headed out to West Point on the Eno and had a great time! I have been looking forward to shooting at the new bridge that was just built there last month. It actually turned out to be my favorite spot. Thanks Thornton family for allowing me to photograph your beautiful family! It was an honor and a privilege!
